Notes
- In general, refresh is another way of describing the process of reloading or updating what is being displayed.
- Refresh is a term that describes the process of renewing the screen contents on a CRTmonitor. As the refresh rate increases, the image becomes clearer.
Refresh may also refer to a software utility developed to help improve the performance of how memory is handled on a computer.
- The refresh button and refresh option is also a function on all Internet browsers.
- Refresh (Reload)
As you browse the Internet the browser cache's data it downloads, meaning they store some or all parts of each page you visit on your computer. This feature is useful as it allows users to not have to download the full page each time they visit the same site. On some sites, you may want to refresh the page to get the latest version; e.g. on a news site. The Refresh button can also be used to reload a page that has failed to load because of an error.
Tips
- On a Windows-based computer, pressing the function key F5 will refresh the web pagebeing viewed on all browsers.
- On a Mac, pressing Command+R will refresh the page you are currently viewing.
